January 2020 President’s Message

Happy New Year! I hope your holidays and time spent with family and friends were enjoyable, and that you have entered the new decade with plenty of fuel in your tank.

As those of you that were able to join us for the 2019 Holiday Party already know, election results were tallied and presented for 2020 Redwood officers. The 2020 Executive Council remains the same as it was at the close of 2019:

President: Chip Witt

Vice President: Ben Davoren

Secretary: Alan Geddes

Treasurer: Jerry Gladstone

Along with Craig Steele, the immediate Past President, these are the elected officers who will serve in the elected roles for 2020.

Congratulations to all, and thanks to everyone that cast their vote. All other Board of Director positions are filled by appointment and will be officially announced after the January, 28 2020 Board Meeting,

The Holiday Party enjoyed a second year of having a miniature car auction as part of the celebration. This year’s proceeds, $1,000, were donated to Paws for Purple Hearts. On Dec 18th, Brian Cooley and Craig Steele visited the Paws for Purple Heart facility located in the former Penngrove Hatchery, north of Petaluma, to present Matthew Decker, Clinical Director of the program, with the check.

The “One One Fun Run” on January 1st gave many of us a great opportunity to start our decade off right…behind the wheel of a Porsche and in the company of friends. We’ll round out the month with a Tech Session sponsored and delivered by our friends at Autobahn Automotive in Santa Rosa on January 25; flyer and MSR link to register are already on the club website. Other upcoming events in the first quarter include the annual “Run for the Crab” at Marin Yacht Club on February 22nd and the “Hoppy Porsche Brewery Tour” at Brewster’s Beer Garden in Petaluma on March 7th.

As you put Redwood events on your calendar, please also keep in-mind we have Board Meetings at the Mary’s Pizza Shack on San Marin Drive in Novato every last Tuesday of the month from 7 to 9 p.m. For the first quarter, those dates are January 28th, February 25th, and March 31st. All are welcome; food is on the club but you cover your own beverages.
