Our first Thunderhill AX is a wrap

Our autocross season of 2020 finally kicked off with a two-day Zone 7 event at Thunderhill on October 11. Sacramento Valley Region hosted us and we couldn’t have asked for a nicer partner or better weather.
We had 47 drivers and ran the course in the opposite direction than we ran the day before, which turned out to be slightly faster for most.
Congrats to Steve Lau for TTOD and Tara Shapowal for the second best time of the day, and also TTOD-W. You can see the full results on our autocross page.
SVR loaned us their trailer, timing system, cones and more, and their team was ready to help us with whatever we need. We can’t thank them enough.
With the loss of so many autocross sites, we’re glad Thunderhill is an option for us. We’re considering another 2-day weekend in 2021 (and possibly a second if there’s enough interest) as the drive is manageable and there are many overnight accommodation options. Think about getting your AX fix on with us at Thunderhill next time!
We’ve got one more AX this season, November 22 at the paddock in Sonoma Raceway. Registration will open next week. I hope to see you there.
Note to our autocross drivers: Snell 2020 helmets are now available. At the start of our 2021 season, the oldest helmet we will allow is a Snell 2010. Be sure to check your expiration date so you’re not caught off guard with an expired helmet.
