January 2022 President’s Message

by | Jan 10, 2022

Happy New Year to each and every one of you! I hope you had a happy and healthy holiday season. Since our last newsletter, I have definitely enjoyed myself at our Porsche club events, from the spectacular 24-newbie Autocross at Sonoma Raceway to the rock and roll shindig Holiday Party, to the One One Fun Run which took place this morning under gorgeous sunny skies. We also had a very productive Annual Planning Meeting with lots of new ideas and some oldies but goodies being set for our calendar. Please check it regularly!

I am excited at the prospects for 2022 becoming a banner year, although we may have more bumps from COVID this winter before things really get going.

Your Board has some new energy and I am particularly grateful for our volunteers and the enthusiasm they bring. Thanks to your votes, Rick Duste is our new Vice President on the Executive Council, and Craig Steele is our new Secretary. Vern Rogers is graciously continuing as our treasurer. I know they will do (and already have done) a great job for our club. With three past presidents on our EC (Steele, Rogers, and Witt) we have a lot of experience to offer. I am sure that each of them would be a wonderful mentor for any of you who are interested in helping to make our club the best it can be, as a potential Board member in the future. Please reach out to us. In that spirit, we welcome Jeff Hall to the Board as our new Sponsorship Coordinator!

Our next scheduled event is Jim Robison’s rally school day on February 12th, including a short practice rally (with prizes!), back after a successful launch last year. Registration is open. We have a tentative plan for our annual Run for the Crab for February 26th, although omicron at the moment has this very much in limbo. We are also hoping to reprise a Movie Night at Hi-Tec Automotive in San Rafael during the winter, which was a blast when we debuted it two years ago.
