August 2023 President’s Message
Two thirds of the year may be gone, but the Redwood Region still has plenty of events in store for our members. July saw a very well attended Porsches on the Plaza, the Spring Lake Mid-Week Picnic, the Mt Hamilton Rally, and a great tour to and excellent meal at Pech Merle winery. Annual upcoming events include a fabulous drive on Highway 128 to Maple Creek winery, and Redwood’ own Zone 7 Concours on the Sonoma Plaza. We also have a weekend tour to the historic town of Murphy’s which will include plenty of time socialize with fellow Redwood members as well as attending the Ironstone Concours. This marks year two of the Murphy’s tour. It is our only overnight event for 2023.
New to our calendar this year are two unique events:
- “An Enchanted Evening” under the stars at the beautiful Beltane Ranch with the Transcendence Theater Company. Transcendence is the winner of 7 Broadway World San Francisco Awards, including “Favorite Local Theater!”. The event includes reserved parking and premium seating as well as two glasses of wine. Picnic tables have been set aside just for our group. Two thirds of the tickets are gone already, and the deadline for purchase is approaching soon (August 18). Please see the event flyer further down in this newsletter for more details.
- The second new event is an opportunity to have a great time, get to know your fellow members better, do a good deed, and share some lunch. I am referring to the Charity Circle Adventure on October 5. It includes a one hour driving tour to the Redwood Empire Food Bank in Windsor, followed by a three-hour shift working to help the hungry of Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties. Once our work is completed will move on to the “Barley and Bine Beer Café” where the region will buy your flatbread, wrap, or salad (you buy your drinks). Comradery also included for free.
PCA and Porsche-Wise, Car Week and within it, Werks Reunion, is happening this month, and September will bring Rennsport back to Monterey. Sharon and I are attending & volunteering at both and hope to see many of you there.
Remember, it’s not just the cars, it’s the people.
That’s all for now… down the road.
