Porsches on the Plaza 2024
I’m out of my door at 6:45 AM in my Porsche Support Vehicle (BWM Wagon) heading to Joe Burroughs‘ home to pick up his pop-up tent… it won’t fit in his Cabriolet.
Joe is behind me as we arrive at the Plaza at 7:30…ready to get the tent set up for CASA and our table for check in. At 8:00 my helpers Jeff Hall and Pat Burke show up…I need help getting the cars parked.
David Bunch and our President, Sharon Neidel show up with their Cayenne packed with tables, chair… water on ice…we need all this equipment for our 10th year doing this charity event.
Our charity is CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates of Sonoma County and today, they are represented by Susy Martes and Kim Fahy. It’s a great charity helping foster kids get through the legal system! Here’s a link for more information on CASA.
The cars start arriving at 8:30… they are earlier as usual…these Porsches guys and girls…they do love this event…a non-Concours setting but they have their cleaning supplies out and the road dirt is there to clean! We have cars from all over the Bay Area!
By 10:00AM..the horseshoe is filled with cars… 42 in all! David Bunch relines the all the air-cooled cars to put them all together. These days the number of air-cooled Porsches is getting less and less.
There was probably another 100+ Porsches parked around Sonoma Square and in the different parking lots in town. The day was spent catching up with Porsche peeps from all over the Bay area.
After lunch, it’s time to announce the winners of the People’s Choice award.
1st place is Nikki Singh with her red Carrera…she gets a bottle of Pech Merle wine!
2nd place goes to YC Cheng with his RSR tribute also a winner of Pech Merle wine!
By 2:00 PM.. the cars are leaving..the weather was perfect… just right…not too hot or cold. I want to thank all my helpers…David Bunch & Sharon Neidel, Joe Burroughs, Jeff Hall and Pat Burke. Remember is not just the cars…it’s the people!
Join us next year…and enjoy our great Redwood Region roads!
Oh…Keep the shiny side UP! Drive safely!
