October 2024 President’s Message

Hard to say Fall is in the air when we’re in this heat wave. Hope you all have air conditioning.

Are you planning to attend the annual member gathering on October 19th? This is your opportunity to meet the Board and learn about the Region.

For those of you who can’t attend let me bring you up to date on the Redwood Region. I hate to brag but we are awesome! As you know we just celebrated our 55th Anniversary as a PCA Region. No social club continues for 55 years without it being a very special organization. We have continued to be strong with our variety of events and welcoming social atmosphere.

The current Board of Directors is strong and dedicated to continuing the legacy of the Region. We get the job done but also enjoy our time together as friends. The Executive Council (myself as President; Pat Burke, VP; Eileen Gaines, Secretary; Don Magdanz, Treasurer and Vern Rogers, Past President) are enjoying our jobs enough to all volunteer for re-election. There are many other appointed Board and Committee positions. Most are willing to continue but there is always room for more help.

Rex Simmons has stepped away as our Safety Chairman. We thank Rex for dedication to keeping our events safe. Craig Steele has agreed to fulfill the duties for the remainder of the 2024 term. Craig has been instrumental in obtaining our new Tour Radio and Safety Equipment and will be a welcome addition to the Board.

If you are interested, consider attending a Board Meeting. They are the last Tuesday of each month at Torches Restaurant in Petaluma. Even if you do not want to run for the Board your feedback is important and welcome. October 29th is your last opportunity for 2024. The November 26th meeting is dedicated to planning the 2025 Calendar and we do not have a meeting in December.

We had such a great variety of events this year with the crown jewel being the Treffen effort. It really showed what great teamwork Redwood can offer. If you have ideas for events next year be sure to come to the planning meeting on November 26th at Torches Restaurant. If you can’t make it pass along the information to a Board member who can assist. We want your input to schedule a variety of events that can appeal to as many members as possible.

The Executive Council and Board are here to facilitate the events, but this is your region and your opinion matters. If you have an event idea or a suggestion please let one of us know. We want to continue to be the best Region for another 55 years.
