February 2025 President’s Message

I am very happy to say last month was my 50th anniversary in PCA. I am so lucky to have made so many friends and had so many great memories in the Club. Thank you to all of you who have made it a special part of my life.

To bring you up to date on Redwood Region. The Bylaws vote closed January 10th, and the Bylaws amendments were approved. These were administrative to make sure our standard operating procedures are in line with the bylaws. The most important is keeping up with the increasing use of electronic voting via e-mail and zoom participation at Board meetings. You may access the full bylaws on the website.

As many of you are aware our esteemed Past President, Vern Rogers and Sharon Castle Rogers relocated to Lincoln CA. Given the geographic complications Vern has found it best to resign his position and allow a more local Past President to assume the duties. I am happy to report our most recent Past President, Ben Davoren, has agreed to complete Vern’s term. Ben has continued to support the Region and will be a valued addition to the Board. I can’t thank Vern enough for everything he did for the Redwood Region including 4 terms as President. He has chaired many events, was our amazing Tourmeister for Treffen and a mentor to me becoming President. Many thanks to Sharon as well for all of her contributions particularly spearheading the very popular Crab Event. Please join me in wishing Vern and Sharon the best in their new location. The Sacramento Region is very lucky to have them.

In addition to the elected and appointed board positions we have two special contributing members. Jeff Hall continues to be our Liaison to our Dealer, Porsche Marin. We are very lucky to have a supportive dealer and a member to maintain the relationship. We owe them a huge thank you for their support in 2024. I know they have some special events planned for 2025.

Another very valuable position is our Charity Liaison, Ben Davoren. Redwood Region supports a number of charities throughout the year including CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), Redwood Empire Food Bank, Homeward Bound, Toys for Tots and our newest The Tech High Robotics Team.

It has been a long wet winter with little PCA activity. I know we have many great events scheduled for 2025 and I can’t wait to get back to spending my weekends with my Porsche Friends.
